Little Geeks, GTA

Recipient 2012

Hello Jo,

It has been a while, and I wanted to follow up with you and Terrequity to provide a summary report on our activities.

Over the past 13 months, with the support of Terrequity and your donation we have:

  • Held 4 distributions;
  • Provided 147 desktop computers and 54 laptops to disadvantaged students in the GTA;
  • Re-designed our website to eliminate paper and allow online registration and application;
  • Built a relationship with Best Buy wth whom we partnered to provide a brand new computer to a physically challenged young woman;
  • Enabled community workers and school administrators the ability to apply on behalf of their students;
  • Retain in inventory close to 160 PCs which we will refurbish and distribute over the summer for a school-start distribution
  • Built a sustained relationship with TDCanada Trust to provide laptops and monitors;
  • established a relationship with BeachMac in the east end to collect individual donor computers.

And, we did all this with a completely volunteer organization - no paid employees or contractors.

Jo, we want to thank Terrequity again for your support, and wish you the best for the future.

“Tri at the Y’ (is a recent) event at our Mississauga YMCA – where children of all backgrounds and abilities got active and tried something they had never done before.  The enthusiasm and spirit is clear.  This is just one example of the impact you made with resources made available by the generosity of donors such as you.

Thank you – please know you are making a difference by investing in children through the YMCA”
